The drama queens have spoken
So the Halloween party went great. Great attendance, great costumes, great dancing, great snacks, great decoration. man, it was fucking good. I am satisfied with that. about 90% of the people wore costumes and that's great. I was Ron Jeremy and I liked it. The best (in my opinion) were the 3 Dominoes, Harry & Lloyd (from Dumb & Dumber) and Mr. Potato Head. What a good halloween party.. shit man. OH and Alan punched a fucking hole through his door.

Onto other things... I think I may be one of the only people who doesn't love I <3 Huckabees. Also, I thought Saw was more funny than anything.

I am going to try and make this my last post on the subject of politics. But I promise nothing.

Sooooo, I know there are a lot of people out there with a lot to say, but here's my take on it.

Firstly, the dramatics and histrionics have to stop. Attention. The world is not over because George Bush is taking office again. We should not just "rip up the constitution" because he was re-elected. There is a certain filmmaker (who will go unnamed) who made a film a few years ago that made so many false points (in my view), but managed to slip in one point that I agreed on. The point being that the media love to cause fear. And, funny enough, this now seems to be what he (the filmmaker) wants to cause. BE AFRAID because BUSH IS IN OFFICE!!!! OOOOOH!!! SCARY GHOSTY WOSTY!!!!

Now don't get me wrong. I don't want Bush in office. I don't want Kerry in office. But do I believe that regardless of who was elected, the USA would still be here. It's not going to be hell and you should still fight for what you believe, but for fuck's sake, be rational. Things may get tough, but as long as you push for things you honestly believe to be for the better of the world, then it will work out.

In addition to that, I think it's fucking hilarious that people are calling their own country 'ignorant' because the person that they wanted to become president didn't get in. That has to be the greatest highlight of contradiction in people that claim to be "open-minded". The fact that they can't accept that intelligent people would learn the issues, examine their own opinions and views on things and then vote against the "open-minded" person's candidate just goes to show how little they are really open to. Isn't it possible for an intelligent, informed person to hold a view that's not completely in line with yours? I am not saying that ignorant people did not vote for Bush. Here is what I am saying... the kind of people who voted for whoever the AM Radio talk show host said to vote for are the same types of people who voted for whoever their favorite band told them to vote for. If someone looked at candidates, views, amendments, etc. and decided (based on their own views and ideas) what to vote for (regardless of party affiliation), then it cannot be called ignorance. It is simply someone's viewpoint.

A few more things.
I voted based on who I thought would make the best president. I also want to state that I have heard about the 'throwing your vote away if you vote for a 3rd party' concept so much and it's entirely too ridiculous. I'm sorry that I didn't vote for someone who I would never want as president. too bad... so sad.

2 amendments that I'm sorry to see got passed. The monorail and minimum wage. fuck man. that's pure shite.

Lastly, I don't understand the concept of working to make the next 4 years extremely hard on the government. I'm sorry, but it sounds like something a whiny brat would do. Instead, use the next 4 years to work to help the government get to what would be more of an ideal situation in your eyes. Try to make the best of it. Improve yourself. Maybe try getting yourself to a position of power where you could help make the world a better place.

anyways, that's all. thanks...

minimum wage?

also...saying that the USA will always be here or that it will always be perfectly fine is a very dangerous thing to do.

just because we haven't had a major revolution in a hundred years or so doesn't mean that we are invincible. it can and WILL happen here.

thanks for personally attacking me...that helped a lot.

"saying that the USA will always be here or that it will always be perfectly fine is a very dangerous thing to do."

Ok... first off, he didn't even say that you delusional moron.

Second, whats with you fucking subversives? You might appeal more to me if I were to hear one godforsaken constructive thing come out your damn pieholes.

Civilizations dont last long, history tells us that. America wont last forever, no, but to think that overthrowing it will bring something better is just as stupid as thinking it will always be here. (as if you and your pathetic subversive internet ring retards could anyways). Voting and grassroots projects are the only chance to honestly make things better. So kiss my ass and fuck you you marxist idealist scared sad excuse of a terrorist.

yes. minimum wage. By involving the government more and more in business, aren't we just setting ourselves up to get fucked? By requiring businesses to pay employees wages for jobs which are not worth those wages, you force the business then to charge more for its' product, therefore creating inflation. This is how smaller businesses will get put out of business and larger corporate entities will stay in power. People should earn higher wages, not be given them as a handout. That's a way to make Americans even lazier. Rewarding the lazy will make everyone lazy eventually.

Onto the second sentence. I didn't say that the USA will always be here or that it will always be perfectly fine, but I can see where you may have misinterpreted that. I was specifically talking about the 2004 election when I said 'But I do believe that regardless of who was elected, the USA would still be here.' And I absolutely don't think the USA is invincible. There's a lot of bad shit in this country that needs fixing, but a revolution won't solve anything. It will be just another shitty example of history repeating itself.

i know this referenced a couple things i've said in the past couple of days, so i just want to clarify that i have really good reasons for what i believe. i didn't vote for kerry because thom yorke or ben gibbard or whomever told me to. i voted for him because i'm tuned in to what's going on in the world and i'm not happy with the way things are.

i know you hate politics, but some of us are very interested in them, and you know that i would love to discuss issues with you whenever you'd like.

the comment about my country being ignorant was spoken in a moment of passion. but you know what strikes me as ignorant? the fact that all the bush states, the ones that are concerned with things like "values" and "national security" are the ones that also believe in war, and also will never have to deal with a terrorist attack.

and i'm proud of you for voting for a third party. i voted for a third party candidate in 2000, because i thought gore was a douchebag. i still think he's a douchebag.

and i want to make the next four years hard on george bush... not the entire government. although g.w. may think he's the whole government, he ain't. and if you want to know why i have it out for the man so bad, i could write you a novel (sort of like this) or talk for 7 hours straight. trust me, i've done my homework.

i'm with you on doing something instead of bitching, by the way.

i love you and i just wanted you to see where i was coming from. you probably won't be on livejournal for another month, anyway, and all of this will seem irrelevant.

cheers,
soraya

haha, I knew that I would eventually get to this. =)

The more I thought about, the more I realized something. While I don't like politics, I don't hate them. I am interested in them and I constantly read about them. What I DO hate is the arguments people have about politics concerning their views when they're so smug, self-righteous, narcissistic, close-minded and arrogant that they can't see past the end of their nose. Please don't think I'm referring to you, because I'm not. I love you too and I don't want something this stupid to cause a rift between you and I.

By the way, I'm glad I've gotten to see since I posted that. It's always a pleasure to talk with you and Scott. And let me know about Limeade. I'm up for it!

best,
J.

Unfortunately, it's really easy to hate Bush, and it's perfectly normal to complain about him. I can see where it's redundant, where it almost seems people are just copying or rubbing off from others. I want to fuck your pussy. I, as most people don't, want a president that lands on an aircraft carrier and says "mission accomplished" in the midst of a war based on a false premise! Come on, MAN! THE PRESIDENT!

I came upon your journal through a friend's and I just want to say that you are very intelligent. All these whining liberals who have the audacity to claim that their country is "stupid" and "uneducated" because they didn't go for Kerry. What the fuck was Kerry gonna do that was so great?? The election wasn't even that close. I'd say democrats need to seriously revamp their party if they ever planning on winning another presidential election.

Good for you and go 3rd party!

I will chime in on this political note.

First of all...

Proclaiming yourself a democrat or republican these days is like labeling yourself a superhero, fighting crime of course but desperately needing super powers. The meaning behind the words, and the entire history of these two parties got lost sometime in the wonderland of politics...
it's not for the better of our country anymore, it's for the better of our party.

Second...

People who complain about the new elected president make me sick. if it had been Kerry would not half the US be complaining and whining. the bottom line is more people voted in this election than any other election in US history! in US fucking history and still Bush got elected; would you "democrats" just let your pride go and try and help your country instead of sobbing and helplessly trying to get your way. This is a democracy, THE FUCKING PEOPLE SPOKE!!! Let it go. jesus....

I believe opinions are healthy in a government; that's what makes ours so great, we can actually decide. That’s what people seem to forget...me and you get to decide. We’re one of the few countries that have that opportunity.

Third…

All democrats do is complain

All republicans do is complain about democrats.....
