When will I start listening to people?
27. Coming to 28 and I am still posting on Livejournal. I am also currently unemployed (as I have been, by choice, for 4 months), single, directionless, lazy and a multitude of other things that I'm sure I wish I wasn't. These will surely go down as some of my darkest days. Current Mood: discontentCurrent Music: M83 - Farewell Goodbye |

Hell - n. - definition I am swimming in a potpourri of thoughts today. I am a pulsating combination of frustration, hunger, fiscal responsibility, longing, anger and so much more that I can't even describe. I am in Roseville, California. Soon to be Novato, California. And ending up in Livermore, California. From there I will fly to my home and, hopefully, be more satisfied with myself than I can ever remember being. I have put up with so much shit from the company that I work for. They do not know how to treat their sales persons. The management doesn't realize that by treating the sales people badly, they are damaging the very income source that gives them their paychecks. So you know what? FUCK YOU. My Descent Into Idiocy
So, I'm really glad this film got an 82% rating at Rotten Tomatoes. I'm glad that I'm making this entry simply because of a movie. I'm glad that I used 99 minutes of my time to watch this AMAZING! movie. In fact, I am so happy with this movie, that I was inspired to create art that relates to it. I am so glad that apparantly the PROFESSIONAL critics who "reviewed" this movie were actually getting paid to go to the theme park of their choice, drink at some bar, pay their bills, attend a Steely Dan concert or something even more exciting. I mean there's no way that someone who actually watched this movie could say: "Taut direction and convincing performances impart a terrifying sense of claustrophobia and isolation." -- M. K. Terrell CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR "[Marshall] expertly maps out those raw nerve endings while creating credible characters who speak and act like real people rather than the usual horror archetypes." -- Michael Rechtshaffen HOLLYWOOD REPORTER "An object lesson in making a tightly-budgeted, no-star horror pic work through razor-sharp technique and committed performances alone." -- Derek Elley VARIETY "Soap opera performances, a script of supreme inanity and a totality of celluloid that's about as innovative and fresh as the shit that no longer exists on the bottom of my rotting baby diapers from 25 years ago." -- Josh Only one of the above 4 reviews is even remotely accurate. And just so I don't come off too one-sided (too late, I know), I can give credit to some of the score, eye-gouging and 3 scenes that made my stomach turn slightly. And that's the sum of it all. If you can't dance to everything, you shouldn't dance to anything.
It has been forever since I wrote anything in here. I have a short list of movies coming out this summer. These include, but are not limited to: Down In The Valley The Fountain A Scanner Darkly Southland Tales Lady In The Water Marie Antoinette 3001 My Mants are floating around in space like sputnik. There was an article that the ever so sweet Julie Garisto wrote about us in the Tampa Bay Times. Funny stuff. In the past month, I have gone to the Coachella festival in California and I have also decided to leave my current job. I am exploring some options, but I think I have settled on a job involving accounting. I'm not sure if I can outrun my lineage. I will hopefully post more about Coachella soon. Like some pictures and extra garbage. I could talk about girls, but I won't. My 26th fuck is coming up in 3 days. Current Mood: discontentCurrent Music: Harold Budd - Afar |

Fat Guy In A Little Coat
Okay. So the computer just erased what I spent 20 minutes writing. FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING STUPID FUCK OF A COMPUTER! In short, things are good. I'm out in LA for the holidays. I got to see Nathan today (which included breakfast, hiking in Griffith Park, coffee and cheesecake (Gay, yes.. but we are FABULOUS!!!), Amoeba Records for 3 hours, a strange bookstore/novelty store and, lastly, an awesome little dive bar that has one of the best burgers in the world.) Other than that, I love seeing my wonderful dad and I love him. I love King Kong. It fucking rules. I was called a 'fucking faggot' by a guy who wanted to get into a parking space that I was watching for some friends on Friday night. Apparently, he really wanted the space, because he proceeded to get out of his car and make threatening gestures at me. The chicken shit didn't do anything and then Adriel came out and made the idiot piss his pants. Funny fucking shit. Mants started recording in Englewood. (CHECK IT - http://www.myspace.com/thegirlsnamedlourdis ) Their drummer is the guy doin' our shit and he's fantastic. His name is Justin. and we love him. We are sounding very good. No new years plans just yet, but who knows.. maybe I'll find the cure for AIDS and world hunger and be whisked off to the end of the world. OH and this is who I saw and talked with in Amoeba for a couple minutes... see, you always see celebrities in LA.. I didn't talk to him about anything movie related, or even let on that I knew who he was, but I'm glad Nate pointed him out because the exchange of words was pretty funny. I did not, however, tell him that Terminator 3 was a mistake. Maybe I should have, though. I'm outtaaaa heeeerrreeee..... Current Mood: curiousCurrent Music: Maximo Park - Postcard of a Painting |

oh god (updated 10/27)
Woman on cell: Y'know, Ma, you always do this shit, you, say, give, say, something nice and then you ruin it with something shitty. Why do you have to do that? It's fucked up, it's so hurtful. It's like you bake me a delicious chocolate cake and then you ruin it by frosting it in diarrhea. Queer: French fries over cocaine, muthafucker are you crazy? Hipster chick: God I feel nauseous. All I've had to eat this weekend has been coffee, secondhand smoke, and semen. Fat chick on cell: Well, it kind of sucks because the subway is like two avenue blocks away and-- Queer passerby: And there's no Krispy Kreme in between? Woman #1: There is no ethical dilemma! It's right there in the Bible! Woman #2: Oh, Bible schmible. Woman #1: Honestly, Helen. Is that the best rejoinder you can manage? Can we possibly have just one discussion without you pulling out the schmefix? Girlfriend: It's just that I give you pristine vagina and you give me used books. Boyfriend: Your gratitude is staggering. Girl: What the fuck are you doing? Guy: It was the train. Girl: No, it fucking wasn't. Guy: I thought it would be fun. Girl: You know what would be fun? Me kicking you in the balls. Guy: That wouldn't be fun. Hobo: That would be a shitload of fun! Can I play? Hobo: Do you have the time? Guy: Quarter past seven. Hobo: Do you think we'll make it? Guy: To where? Hobo: To wherever we're going. Guy: Yes. Salesguy #1: Dude, I think I smell or something... Salesguy #2: You smell like the robust combination of onions and poop. Guy #1: I'm not gay, dude. Guy #2: Yes you are. I see you giving me those looks at work. Guy #1: You know what? You're right. So right here, right now, in front of God and the N train, will you go out wih me? Guy #2: Shit man, I was kidding. You really are a fag. Woman: It's a pity about that actress who stabbed someone with her knife. What's her name? ...Um...Reese? Chick: Witherspoon? Woman: No! With her knife! Who would like some cuban sushi?
Who knows what to say? In the word of David Bowie "Ch..ch..ch..ch..changes!!!" Yosi is leaving to San Francisco at the end of the month. Nick is over in Germany for a month. Lisa has been gone for about a month and a half now... Mants hasn't had practice in about a month. Me and Alan decided to start a classic rock cover band.. we don't have a name yet, but we'll be doing stuff like The Kinks, Yes, Rush, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Beach Boys, Boston, Rolling Stones, CSNY, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, maybe Bowie, not completely sure yet, but it's going to be a lot of fun... the things we disagree on playing are kind of funny, though.. I don't know if he wants to play any Pink Floyd, but I'm going to force at least one song on the group.. no one else wants to do 'Don't Fear The Reaper'.. that's a fucking classic! and the breakdown in the middle has to be one of the best ever and then it kicks back in and it's fucking crazy! fucking hell. I've seen so many movies in the past month.. Murderball, March of the Penguins, War of the Worlds, Wedding Crashers, Hustle & Flow, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, The Machinist, Explorers, Seed Of Chucky, Aparajito, Around The Bend, A Dirty Shame, The Assassination of Richard Nixon, Jump Tomorrow, Batman Begins, The Devil's Rejects, Scent of a Woman, The Island, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Must Love Dogs and I'm sure I'm leaving a couple out... wow wow.. look at all the money I'm giving to the Hollywood machine. Dog shit hell! Just to catch up on old news. April 2005: I went and saw M83 in DC with Leah, Tom, Yosi and Rachel. And I think I permanently injured my finger on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial at 2 in the morning. Needless to say, I loved DC, my friends and the drive up there. May 2005: I turned 25. Fucking shit ass stank. June 2005: Mants opens for Travis Morrison. People get stabbed. Fucked up show. July 2005: Everyone leaves. I find myself in a fiery encased tube of chocolate ice cream and fat. And I don't know if it's just me, but when I rub that area where the soul patch goes really hard and then smell my finger, it smells weird. But it could just be my stank self. I think I have to stop watching movies, computers and tvs and get outta dodge. feelings are weird, aren't they? Current Mood: crappyCurrent Music: Sufjan Stevens - Come On! Feel The Illinoise! |

Travis Morrison Mants (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Ayo & Auditorium Thu June 23 Special Early Show: 7-11pm $8 | All Ages! @ Masquerade 1503 E 7th Ave Ybor City 813.247.3319 EVERYONE COME OUT AND SUPPORT!!!! MUCH LOVE <<<<< ROBOT DICK AND THE WEEKLY PLANET HAD THIS TO SAY ABOUT THE SHOW: THURSDAY, JUNE 23 TRAVIS MORRISON/DORIS HENSON/MANTS While C.O.C. does its dirge-with-attitude thing in the big room, former Dismemberment Plan frontman Travis Morrison does his disappointing, supposed-to-be-arty-but-really-just-lame thing in the adjacent Infinity Room. Sorry, fanboys and fangirls; the D-Plan did indeed rock, but Morrison's solo album Travistan, his disjointed live shows and sad attempts at hip-hop funnery are, given his pedigree, perplexing in their awfulness. Local band Mants is interesting, though. (Masquerade Infinity Room, Ybor City) Current Mood: hornyCurrent Music: Mants - Dark Song |

ENOK BE CHOFORLO
HERE IS WHAT THE WEEKLY PLANET HAD TO SAY ABOUT ME AND MY 4 BLACK DAUGHTERS: Mants Mants This Clearwater outfit (which features a couple of the guys from the late, less adventurous Skyline) plays an idiosyncratic style of indie-rock. You can hear lots of influences, but Mants doesn't sound like anybody, thank you very much, and manages to come off as both meandering/angular/experimental and muscular/anthemic/melodic, occasionally within the same tune: "A Tin Deal" and "Svengali" best bridge both worlds. Those who like standard 4/4 riffs are gonna be confused, and the vocals are studiedly amateurish. Overall, however, this is interesting and above-average bombastic post-punk that follows its own muse. (themants@hotmail.com) 3 out of 5 planets If you want to read the reviews for other bands, check out http://www.weeklyplanet.com/music_feature.htmlThat address will be completely irrelevant in a week, though. So GO FAST. And it's friday and things are okay. I'm going to see Sin City tonight. And we're playing at the Emerald Bar tomorrow night. April 2nd, 2005. 21+. $3, I think.
